Item Comportamento do meloeiro em cultivo sem solo com a utilização de biofertilizante(2003) Villela Junior, Luiz Vitor E.; Araújo, Jairo Augusto C.; Factor, Thiago LeandroThe reutilization of nutrients after the fermentation of organic residue in the biodigestor, associated with a hydroponic cultivation technique, could be a new alternative to reduce costs in agriculture, as well as contributing to the reduction of consumption of the natural reserves of nutrients. The behavior of a melon plant culture with the utilization of the hydroponic technique and using the effluent of biodigestor proceeding from anaerobic fermentation of bovine manure was evaluated. Melon plants were cultivated in protected environment. The statistical design was of randomized blocks, with four treatments (hydroponic cultivation in closed system type NFT with the use of organic-mineral nutrient solution; hydroponic cultivation in closed system type NFT with the use of the 100% mineral nutrient solution; cultivation in open system, with substrate and organic-mineral nutrient solution and cultivation in open system, with substrate and the 100% mineral nutrient solution) and 6 replications. Height of plants was evaluated at 50; 56; 63; 70 and 77 days after sowing; time of harvest; weight of fruits and yield. The best responses were observed for hydroponic cultivation in closed system type NFT using 100% mineral nutrient solution. The partial substitution of mineral fertilizers for biofertilizer, showed itself to be viable for the treatments in open system (with substrate). Item Electrical conductivity of the nutrient solution and plant density in aeroponic production of seed potato under tropical conditions (winter/spring)(2017) Calori, Alex Humberto; Factor, Thiago Leandro; Feltran, José Carlos; Watanabe, Eduardo Yuji; Moraes, Carolina Cinto de; Purquerio, Luís Felipe VillaniABSTRACT The recent introduction in Brazil of production of quality seed potatoes in hydroponic systems, such as aeroponics, demands studies on the nutritional and crop management. Thus, this study evaluated the influence of electrical conductivity of the nutrient solution and plant density on the seed potato minitubers production in aeroponics system. The Agata and Asterix cultivars were produced in a greenhouse under tropical conditions (winter/spring). The experimental design was a randomized block in a split-split plot design. The plot consisted of 4 electrical conductivities of the nutrient solution (1.0; 2.0; 3.0; and 4.0 dS∙m−1); the subplot, of 4 plant densities (25; 44; 66; and 100 plants∙m−2); and the subsubplot, of the 2 potato cultivars (Ágata and Asterix), totaling 4 blocks. The 2.2 and 2.1 dS∙m−1 electrical conductivities yielded the highest productivity of seed potato minitubers, for Ágata and Asterix cultivars, respectively, regardless of plant density. For both cultivars, the highest yield was observed for the 100 plants∙m−2 density. Quanto à densidade de plantas, para ambas as cultivares, melhor desempenho produtivo foi obtido na densidade de 100 plantas∙m−2.Item Flavor and color: ‘IAC 134 AL01’, the Campinas Agronomic Institute’s first orange-colored pulp sweet potato cultivar(2023) Peressin, Valdemir Antonio; Feltran, José Carlos; Rós, Amarílis B; Bernacci, Luís Carlos; Piotto, Fernando Angelo; Factor, Thiago Leandro; Lima Junior, Sebastião de; Fabri, Eliane GABSTRACT The sweet potato cultivar ‘IAC 134 AL01’ has tuberous roots with high β-carotene content, with the fresh pulp having an intermediate orange colour (based on international descriptors for the crop), which turns bright orange after cooking, and a mildly sweet taste. Information on growth and nutrient accumulation must thus be updated to assist in the refinement of existing recommendations, enabling the better exploitation of the productive potential of these new genotypes. We determined the growth of plants and the accumulation and export of nutrients of the short-day onion ‘Soberana’ established by direct seeding. The experimental design was a randomized block with four replicates and the treatments were evaluation times. Leaf number, tissue dry weight, nutrient accumulation, and the maximum daily rate of accumulation were evaluated throughout the growing cycle. The order of nutrient accumulation was (g plant-1) K (0.72) > Ca (0.38) > N (0.32) > S (0.14) > P (0.08) > Mg (0.06) and (mg plant-1) Fe (2.26) > Mn (1.43) > Cu (0.93) > Zn (0.91) > B (0.85). Macronutrient demand was highest between 61 and 148 days after sowing (DAS), and micronutrient demand was highest between 70 and 148 DAS. A exigência máxima dos macronutrientes ocorreu entre 61 e 148 dias após a semeadura (DAS) e dos micronutrientes entre 70 e 148 DAS.Item New approaches using selection index in sweet potato breeding for biofortification(2023) Silva, Hellen Cristina da; Peressin, Valdemir Antonio; Feltran, José Carlos; Factor, Thiago Leandro; Fabri, Eliane Gomes; Bernacci, Luís Carlos; Nomura, João Vitor; Piotto, Fernando AngeloAbstract The objective of this research was to select orange-fleshed sweet potato clones with high stability, yield, and β-carotene content in different planting seasons, using a selection index. Joint analysis of experiments and analysis of responsiveness and stability by the GGE biplot method were performed for the variables yield, dry matter percentage, and root flesh color. The variables yield, dry matter, color and stability were used to estimate a selection index. The GGE biplot analysis indicated that there are differences among clones in stability for Yield. However, the percentage of dry matter and color of the roots show low interaction in the different environments. Because of that, stability for yield was included in the selection index, together with yield, dry matter, and root orange color intensity. Finally, the selection index based on stability, yield, dry matter percentage and root color was efficient in the selection of a new biofortified sweet potato cultivar. orangefleshed fleshed βcarotene β carotene seasons Yield However environments intensity Finally cultivarItem New approaches using selection index in sweet potato breeding for biofortification(2023) Silva, Hellen Cristina da; Peressin, Valdemir Antonio; Feltran, José Carlos; Factor, Thiago Leandro; Fabri, Eliane Gomes; Bernacci, Luís Carlos; Nomura, João Vitor; Piotto, Fernando AngeloAbstract The objective of this research was to select orange-fleshed sweet potato clones with high stability, yield, and β-carotene content in different planting seasons, using a selection index.
